How does picosecond laser treatment for scars work?
The energy emitted by the picosecond laser is absorbed in the dermis, breaking down old, poor-quality collagen and scar fibrosis and stimulating the formation of new collagen (neocollagenesis) in its place.
In this way, after each laser session, old, poor-quality collagen and scar fibrosis are progressively broken down and replaced by new collagen and a richer matrix that retains water, improving the appearance of the scar from within.
