By placing several bioresorbable PDO threads in the dermis, we treat facial skin laxity from within while also stimulating collagen production in the skin.
What does PDO thread treatment involve?
PDO lifting threads for the face, double chin and neck are inserted into the dermis using a technique developed by Korean dermatologists. Their placement is very similar to the cross-hatching filler technique.
PDO lifting threads are bioresorbable, non-pyrogenic and non-toxic monofilaments made from PDO polydioxanone, a material used in cardiac sutures (hence its high safety profile, based on many years of use).

How do they work?
Once the PDO threads have been inserted into the dermis using a fine needle, they create a tightening effect through both their physical action and the stimulation of collagen along the direction in which they have been inserted.
PDO threads with Thermage or collagen stimulators
Combining Thermage radiofrequency or collagen stimulators with PDO threads offers enhanced results when treating facial skin laxity. Each technique separately increases and supports collagen production, and combining them produces an even greater effect.
Thermage first stimulates collagen formation and tightens the skin through heat. After 1 to 2 weeks, we insert the PDO threads into skin that is already “activated and more receptive”, helping us achieve firmer results more quickly.
Collagen stimulators enhance the skin-tightening effect of PDO threads by stimulating collagen formation.
Number of sessions and when to expect results
With a single PDO thread session, the firming effect on the face and neck is immediate and progressive. Results continue to improve 30 days after the session and become established at around 3 months.

Aftercare
After PDO thread treatment for facial skin laxity, a few simple aftercare measures are recommended to support recovery and optimise results:
- Avoid excessive facial movements, massage or pressure on the treated area during the first week.
- Avoid strenuous exercise and excessive heat exposure (sauna, UVA rays) during the first few days.
- Sleep on your back, avoiding direct pressure of the face against the pillow.
- Keep the skin clean and moisturised according to medical advice.
Always follow the specialist’s personalised instructions.
