Do you know the difference between static and expression wrinkles?
Static or gravitational wrinkles are caused by ageing of the skin, whether chronological or due to photoageing. The most common are in the nasolabial fold area (on either side of the mouth). They are treated with hyaluronic acid.
Expression wrinkles are caused by muscle contraction when making facial expressions. They occur on the forehead, between the eyebrows, around the eyes (crow’s feet) or around the mouth (perioral lines). They are treated with neuromodulators.

When is hyaluronic acid filler indicated?
Hyaluronic acid injections are recommended in the following cases:
- For patients who wish to reduce static wrinkles, such as nasolabial folds.
- For patients who want to restore volume to areas where it has been lost due to the ageing process, such as the cheeks, chin and jawline.
- For patients who wish to harmonise their facial features or enhance certain areas, adding volume to areas such as the cheekbones, lips, chin or facial contour.
- For patients who wish to reduce dark circles.
Is hyaluronic acid filler safe?
Hyaluronic acid wrinkle fillers performed in aesthetic clinics by doctors are very safe procedures. However, the following points should be considered:
- The product selected by the doctor should be of high quality (with CE certification) and appropriate for the type of wrinkle being treated.
- Take into account the experience and aesthetic judgement of the practitioner.
Filling wrinkles
Restore volume lost in folds caused by wrinkles with hyaluronic acid.
How long do the results last?
Around 9–24 months, depending on the type of product injected, age, the area treated, skin quality and lifestyle.
With successive periodic injections, the effect becomes more noticeable and lasts longer. After further aesthetic treatment, another HA session may therefore not be needed as soon, as the beneficial effects may last longer.
In addition, some research shows that after several treatments with hyaluronic acid injections, the skin’s natural collagen production is stimulated.
Unlike treatments involving injections of substances that block the facial muscles, hyaluronic acid injections fill wrinkles and/or restore volume. As a result, the facial skin fold disappears or is softened.
Number of sessions
The results of hyaluronic acid injections for wrinkles are immediate after a single session.
Normal activities and social activities can be resumed within a few hours.

Aftercare following hyaluronic acid filler
Massage the area if advised by the practitioner, avoid make-up for 24 hours and apply an anti-inflammatory or anti-bruising cream if considered necessary.
