From the age of 35–40, the first signs of body skin laxity appear, with a loss of firmness and sagging skin on the body. The areas most affected by skin laxity are the abdomen, inner thighs and arms.

It can also occur in younger patients following significant weight loss, after childbirth, due to hormonal changes or because of skin characteristics that make it more prone to laxity.

medical treatments are effective in cases of mild to moderate body skin laxity and when skin laxity is very pronounced, surgery should be considered. The current trend is to treat skin laxity at an early stage and even prevent it, as this can achieve better and more natural results.

What is the best body firming treatment?

There is no single treatment for body skin laxity, but rather a combination of several treatments, and the best treatment should be personalised for each case, taking into account factors such as the degree of body skin laxity, skin quality and muscle tone.

We use the most advanced technologies — collagen stimulators, HIFU ultrasound, Thermage radiofrequency and Endolift laser — to treat body skin laxity and achieve natural results. We assess each case individually to select the most suitable treatment, aiming for effectiveness and maximum durability.

Ribe Clinic protocol for effective treatment of body skin laxity

At Ribe Clinic, we diagnose the type and degree of body skin laxity, including a medical history, and design a specific treatment protocol for each patient. This may involve a single treatment or a combination of several treatments to firm the body.

Thermage radiofrequency

Indicated for patients with mild to moderate skin laxity or those who want to improve skin texture and quality over larger areas (abdomen, thighs). It is suitable for all skin phototypes.

It works within the skin, so there are no visible external changes and normal activities can be resumed as usual.

As a non-invasive body firming treatment, it generates volumetric heating that stimulates collagen production without the risk of post-treatment pigmentation.

Collagen stimulators

This treatment for body skin laxity is indicated for patients who want to improve elasticity, thickness and firmness of the body skin gradually and naturally in localised areas, or for early treatment in delicate areas (such as the inner arms or the knee area).

It is fully compatible with sun exposure and most skin phototypes, as its main function is to biostimulate the tissue from within.

HIFU ultrasound

Indicated for patients with moderate or structural skin laxity who want a deep tightening effect and contour redefinition without surgery in localised areas. It is also indicated when there is some localised fat in addition to skin laxity.

This body firming treatment is suitable for patients of any skin phototype (skin colour) and can be performed at any time of year, as its focused energy acts internally without damaging the surface of the skin.

Endolift laser fibre

Indicated for patients with significant body skin laxity and have localised fat deposits (such as on the inner thighs or arms).

This treatment for body skin laxity is ideal for those seeking remodelling and tightening results comparable to surgery, but with a minimally invasive procedure. It is safe for the skin, as it acts at a subdermal level.

Why choose Ribe Clinic for body firming?

We take part in medical research into new technologies for treating skin laxity, which gives us first-hand knowledge of the latest research and the results of the most innovative technologies.

At Ribe Clinic, we combine our experience in treating skin laxity with the latest technology and the patient’s goals.

Throughout the process, we take into account each patient’s needs and aesthetic goals. We assess the degree of skin and muscle laxity, the presence of fat and the condition of the skin to select the treatment for skin laxity that best suits each case.

All treatment protocols are personalised for each patient.

Frequently asked questions about advanced body firming

The most effective body firming treatment is always a personalised protocol that combines different technologies to address the different layers of the skin.

Our selection is based on the patient’s needs:

  • Moderate skin laxity and fat reduction: We recommend Endolift, which tightens and remodels the body contour in a minimally invasive way.
  • Deep, non-surgical tightening: We choose between HIFU (focused ultrasound) or Thermage (monopolar radiofrequency) for deep tissue contraction.
  • Improving skin quality and elasticity: We use collagen stimulators to help the skin regenerate and progressively and naturally improve firmness.

The sensation varies considerably depending on the technology, but all body skin laxity treatments are well tolerated.

  • Radiofrequency (Thermage): It produces a sensation of deep, intense heat, but this is tolerable and controlled. The new handpiece has a vibration mechanism designed to stimulate vibration receptors rather than pain receptors, helping to make the sensation of heat and discomfort more tolerable.
  • HIFU: It may cause mild discomfort or brief, deep prickling sensations in sensitive areas.
  • Endolift: It is performed under local anaesthetic; the patient does not feel pain during the procedure.
  • Collagen stimulators: Discomfort from the injection is minimal and is reduced with topical anaesthetic.

The number of sessions depends on the depth at which the treatment acts:

  • Thermage: Generally a single session is sufficient for the full treatment cycle.
  • HIFU: 1 session, if 2 sessions are needed, it is recommended to wait 3–6 months.
  • Endolift: Generally requires a single session.
  • Collagen stimulators: Normally 1–3 sessions, in some cases, the doctor may recommend a second maintenance session after 6–12 months.

The results of the treatments are long-lasting but not permanent. Maintenance is required for all treatments if the results are to be preserved over time.

Both treatments for body skin laxity are powerful non-invasive tightening treatments, but they use different technologies:

  • HIFU: It uses focused ultrasound to create heat at very precise points in the deeper layers and muscle layers.
  • Thermage: It uses monopolar radiofrequency to heat the fat and dermal layers volumetrically.

The choice depends on whether a more focused, structural action (HIFU) or broader heating for tightening larger areas (Thermage) is required.

Endolift is a body firming treatment classified as minimally invasive and is performed under local anaesthetic.

  • Advantage: A laser microfibre is inserted without the need for large incisions or stitches.
  • Recovery: No rest is required or time off work.
  • Post-treatment effects: There may be mild swelling or small bruises, which disappear within a few days.

Collagen stimulators are injectable biostimulators that stimulate the skin to produce its own collagen naturally and progressively.

They are used to treat body skin laxity with the aim of:

  • Improving the quality, thickness and elasticity of the skin.
  • Treating mild or moderate body skin laxity in areas with thin skin (arms, knees, abdomen).
  • Achieving a very natural result that improves over the following months.

The tightening effect of all these technologies is long-lasting but not permanent, as they depend on the biological stimulation of collagen.

  • Typical duration: The results last between 12 and 18 months after the initial contraction.
  • When results become visible: The most noticeable effects are seen between 3 and 6 months after the session.
  • Maintenance: It is key to success. We recommend annual maintenance sessions (for HIFU/Thermage) or periodic repeat treatments with collagen stimulators.

Yes, this is ideal for achieving maximum definition.

  • Best result: When fat is reduced (with other procedures), the skin has to adapt to the new contour.
  • Ideal strategy: Combining firming technologies (such as Endolift or radiofrequency) helps ensure that the skin tightens and adheres to the muscle, avoiding residual laxity.

Side effects are minimal and temporary, allowing patients to resume their daily activities.

  • Non-invasive treatments: There may be redness or mild swelling in the area, which disappears within a few hours.
  • Minimally invasive treatments: A bruise or mild inflammation may occur at the treatment points, resolving within a few days.
