    Is it possible to remove a tattoo without leaving a scar?

    With appropriate parameters and post-treatment care, the risk of scarring is low. Redness, oedema, small scabs or temporary small blisters are normal. Uncommon complications include hypo- or hyperpigmentation or changes in skin texture; this is why we personalise the energy settings and provide precise aftercare instructions.

    This laser produces less photothermal effect than traditional lasers, resulting in a more comfortable, safer treatment with fewer side effects.

    • The picosecond laser has several wavelengths that allow light photons to be absorbed more selectively by the ink colours.
    • The picosecond laser can remove all colours (it is important to know the composition of the ink). The 1064 nm wavelength is used for black and dark blue colours, 532 nm for red, yellow and orange colours, and 730 nm for green and blue colours.

    How many sessions do I need to remove a tattoo?

    It depends on the colour, density and depth of the ink, age of the tattoo,, size,, location (areas with poorer venous circulation respond more slowly), and skin type. As a guide:

    • Amateur/small tattoos: 4–6 sessions.
    • Professional tattoos (black/blue): 6–10 sessions.
    • Complex colours (green, turquoise, yellow) may require >10 sessions or a combination of wavelengths.

    Aftercare

    For 7–10 days:

    • Keep the area clean and dry and apply a repairing cream.
    • If a scab forms, do not remove it; allow it to fall off naturally.
    • Use high-level sun protection until the healing process is complete (SPF 50+).
    • Avoid vigorous exercise, tight clothing and friction over the area for 48–72 hours. If a blister appears, protect it; we will explain how to care for it to avoid rubbing or infection.
